Must be 18 Years of Age and posses a High school diploma or equivalent. After employment, successful completion of the 40 hour Basic Telecommunicator Course (#1013) and Crisis Communications Course (#2120) within one year as mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Must pass typing test at a net rate of 20 wpm.
Must be 18 Years of Age and posses a High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a licensed Texas Telecommunicator or achieve such licensure within one year of employment by passing an extensive character and background investigation and the successful completion of the 40 hour Basic Telecommunicator Course (#1013) and the Crisis Communications Course (#2120) as mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (Texas Administrative Code Rule 217.2). Must pass a typing test at a net rate of no less than 20 wpm.
Salary range for this position: $29,360.00- $44,040.00

Specific Job Related Duties
Dispatch, speaking clearly and distinctly. Correctly type calls for service in CAD. Answer multi-phone lines clearly and distinctly. Perform simultaneously CAD/phones/alarms with accuracy. Monitor intrusion and fire alarms, criminal and data entry. Analyze situations quickly, accurately taking effective action.
Cleared to work security sensitive environment. Pass polygraph and background checks. Type accurately at 20 words per minute. Successfully pass drug testing and psychological testing.
This position requires a typing testing. You must complete this testing at the approved Business Unit prior to being considered for this position.
- If you are a current UTMB employee, you may still need to test if it has been longer than a year, or if your current position did not require scores of 20 wpm or better.
You may complete the required testing at Workforce Solutions at 3549 Palmer Highway in Texas City. They are open Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (except holidays) and no appointment is necessary. Please bring a picture ID and indicate that you are testing for UTMB positions.
Once you have passed the required testing, please submit your application. If you had already applied before testing, you will have to reapply once you have passed the tests.
Score must be at least 30 words per minute.
Your tests scores will be kept on file for one year.
